Beer Pong: A Drinking Game
Some might say that alcohol is fun enough by itself. They might enjoy losing some inhibitions, socially interacting with friends, or just winding down after a hard week. Set aside from other drinking games is beer pong. Beer pong gives you the perfect medium to do all these things, while testing your skills.
Only the last ten years or so, beer pong has become a standard at parties. You can see people of all ages playing beer pong now and why not? This game is fun, tests your skills; and is coupled with a little healthy competition. Playing this fast paced and challenging game; it’s pretty tough to get bored.
Whether it is two people or two teams of two; it takes two to beer pong. If you get a tournament going, the amount of teams are endless. Beer pong is also a pretty fast pace drinking game. This makes it easy to switch out or rotate teams. So you can have ten people over wanting to play and beer pong will easily entertain the whole party. Beer pong is a fun spectators sport; so, watching is just as fun.
The setup is fairly simple. Just make sure to grab a table that is between six and eight feet long and a minimum of two feet wide. Set up ten 16 oz. cups on either side of the table in a pyramid form with the points of the pyramids facing opposite from each other and collinear. The bottom of the pyramids should be no more than eight feet apart. Fill the cups with about a third of beer and put one cup on each side of the table full of water for your ball rinse (no need to waste beer). Typically a 40mm. ping pong ball is used. Although, I have seen other items used in desperation (walnuts, marbles, Barbie heads, acorns); so, make sure you have enough balls.
The basic rules are pretty straight forward. You can either flip a coin or make some kind of trick shot to see who goes first. Basically, the point of the game is to try to throw the ball in the other person’s cup and alternate turns if you are playing on teams. If you make the ball into one of the opposing team’s cups, they must drink the contents of that cup. Be careful with bouncing the ball in to the cup because the other team can swat it away. If they do swat the ball from going in their cup, the throwing team must drink one of their own cups. If the ball is thrown and it’s spiraling around the rim of the cup you can also blow or flick it out but you can’t spill any beer or else your team will have to drink. If you are successful then the opposing team drinks. For every drink you take you need to remove the cup from play. Also you need to call a re-rack to re align the cups. You can request this at six, four, and two (cups remaining) during play. We also have the redemption rule. This is where the drinking game gets interesting. Usually, when you have to make the redemption shot it’s a trick shot and usually house rules determines the shot. If you make the shot on a redemption call, you win the game.
The rules of beer pong can get a hard at times but there is no need to get into all those rules. After all, it’s only a drinking game. It is interesting to see different people’s rules for beer pong but all you need is the basics to start playing. Once you have learned those, then you can get creative with your own rules. By all means, have fun and your new imaginative rule can spread virally and be used all over the world.
A drinking game for the ages, beer pong, is played all over the world by all types of people. This was just a sneak peek; so, join in the fun. Just remember to be safe and responsible. Have people check in their car keys. If you are hosting a party, make sure there is room for people to crash.

Beer Pong Set Up and Supplies
Looking to play the ultimate beer pong game? This supply list will help you on your way. Once you have all your supplies, we will go over how to set everything up to run smoothly.
The first item you will need is your table. Now there are a lot of ways to go about it. You can make or build your own beer pong table but this can get very pricey and time consuming as well. You don’t want ruin any of your household tables; so, don’t use those. A regulation table needs to be eight feet long and around twenty seven and half inches high. This size of a table makes it little difficult to store when you not using it. My recommendation would be to purchase a professionally made table. They are not that expensive usually under $130.00. These tables are portable and break down to about the size of a briefcase with a carrying handle for easy storage. The table is made especially for playing beer pong with clear markings for the cup layout and placement. These tables are also water resistant and are very durable and sturdy and have cool graphics and usually come with a holder for the balls as well.
Now you will need some balls for playing. You can purchase balls that say that they are made “especially for beer pong” on them but, don’t be fooled, they are the same as any ping pong ball. There are generally two sizes of balls 38 mm. and 40 mm. These are your standard size ping pong balls; although, the 38mm balls are becoming rarer because since 2000, they are no longer used in ping pong competitions. Not all balls are created equal though. Ping pong (or table tennis) balls are marked with a 3 star rating. The rating is based on roundness, size, seam, and weight. The 3 star balls are of the highest quality; while 0 star balls of the lowest. These ratings benefit beer pong also. Balls with a 1 to 3 star rating have less of a chance to fill with liquid because of a pin hole. Balls without the seam throw and bounce better a well. Three star balls are more expensive; don’t break the bank if you don’t have to. A 1 or 2 star ball will play just as well. Make sure to buy more than one ball, as they are very easily lost or crushed.
Cups are usually 16 ounces in size and made of plastic. Most games are played with six or ten cups on each side of the table plus two cups for rinsing also called dip cups. So you would at least start off with twenty four cups. This way you have a couple extra ones on hand. The cups can be purchased pretty much at any market or big box store. If you are a frequent or serious gamer, reusable plastic cups are available. These cups have different sayings, logos, and designs on them and are a little more expensive. The design or the phrase on the cup is totally up to you.
Last but not least on the list the beer (or water). Depending on the situation and the type of game play people use water to save money. This is also a good idea if it’s going to be family game and players are under the age of twenty one. The game does not have to be played with only beer. But if you plan on having a party with many players and teams involved I would just get a quarter barrel of beer. The type of beer used is all personal preference.
Once all of our supplies are in check it is time to set up and play some beer pong. You will need an area large enough for the table and some clearance space for movement. If at all possible stay off carpeted areas; no matter how hard you try to stay clean, the floor will get wet. Now that the table is ready to go and presuming you have a professional beer pong table, there will be two triangles on each of the beer pong table this is where you place the cups. Six or ten cups are to be placed in each triangle. Then fill the cups about 1/3 with beer or water. On the outside of the triangle will be a marked area for the dip cup on each side of the table. This cup gets filled to about 4/5ths of the way with warm water.
You are finally ready to play some professional beer pong. Now you have a complete supply list and table set up reference. This game can be for anyone who wants to play. Just remember you can always use water if you are a minor or simply not an alcohol drinker. So let’s have some fun and make sure to play responsibly.

Beer Pong Tips
Beer pong can be a very fun and enjoyable to play. There are some tips everyone should know that make beer pong a little more exciting and safe for everyone. So sit back grab a cold brew and read along as I explain these tips.
There have always been health concerns about beer pong like sharing cups, throwing a ball that can potentially have a disease into someone's cup, etc. Not too far in the past, (as you probably remember) the H1N1 virus was on the verge of becoming spread nationwide; beer pong was said to have aided in what could have been an epidemic. You probably wouldn't mind if you were missing class or work, but not a beer pong game. There are easy ways to prevent you from being vulnerable to disease. A solution to not being sick (besides a headache in the morning) is to use water instead of beer. Relax; keep reading because I am not saying "don't drink beer". It's a simple idea, fill your table cups with water and keep a personal cup handy. When a shot from the opposing team is made, take out the water cup and poor beer into your own personal drinking cup. There you have it, no dirty virus in your cup of beer. If you play professional beer pong (or are in training), this is also good to use because most tournaments are played with good old H2O.
Using water in the table cups is not only healthy, but it will also save on the beer required for the game. You can save a lot of money if you are hosting a party by buying a keg; especially if you like top shelf beer. We all know today's economy has gone down the tubes; so, consider getting 16 oz. reusable plastic cups. Buying reusable cups saves you money and it is also better for the environment. Save some green and go green!
You should be a responsible beer pong player and a responsible party host. You don't want guests or friends to get injured or (god forbid) die because of your party. Try to alternate teams instead of "Winner challenges next team." This way, everyone gets a break and there is a chance for everyone to play. You should also make sure that car keys have been checked in before the game and there is enough sleeping room for people to stay overnight if needed.
Deciding to build a table from wood can take hours and you should make sure to have the tools and materials on hand. Nobody is going to wait that long. When people are ready to play beer pong and you have to figure out what to use for a beer pong table, that's the worst. If you take the table from your house, such as, the kitchen table, you risk getting the table destroyed. Buying a new table and still not having a good table to play beer pong on is a waste of money and time. Your money and efforts would be better spent if you bought a real beer pong table. It's simple to set up, easy to clean, and putting it away is as easy as closing a suitcase.
Most likely, you will be spilling water or beer while playing beer pong; so try to stay away from carpeted areas. The playing area where you are going to set up the beer pong table should meet certain requirements, such as, basement floor or a tile floor. These surfaces are stain and water resistant and easier to clean. The back deck or yard is the best area to play if the weather permits because there is almost no clean up (besides beer and water is good for the grass). For accurate shooting, try placing the table in a place with overhead light. Make sure to have enough room to take a shot and fist pump. Regulation eight foot beer pong tables require al least twelve feet of total playing room.
Have fun! This is the most important tip off all. Beer pong is a great social game with friendly competition to go along with it. You will never have a boring party when there is a game of beer pong going on. So, until next time, "Have a great game!" Just remember to save money, be healthy, be responsible, make sure you pick the right spot, and you will always have a good beer pong game with lots of good times.

Beer Pong, You Rule!
Beer pong spread like wild fire and so did its rules. When you step back and think about it, it's amazing; the rules and regulations that exist today originated from one simple game and spawned off into a worldwide game. These rules developed and were established over time and make the game more challenging and fun.
Every time you go to someone's place to play the game, they always have a different set of house rules; which always makes the game more challenging and fun. Beer pong has to be one of the best drinking games; of course, that is just my opinion. When I play beer pong with my good friends, we have a blast and play for hours (or at least until we can't throw the ball anymore).
It's amazing what changes with one little rule. For instance, I was playing a game of beer pong with my brother and his friends the other night and they had a house rule called redemption. Let me tell you this, I got my butt handed to me. Story goes, there is one cup left on each side of the table and my brother and I are at the final showdown. Okay so now it's my shot, "Bam", in the cup the ball goes and I'm thinking, "Sweet!" The game is done and my team wins (or so I thought)! As it turns out, my brother calls redemption before I throw the ball. What is redemption you ask? Well, when each team is down to just one cup before the other team throws their ball you have to say redemption. Now this means if you make the last shot and the ball goes in the cup the other team gets a chance to take the lead. Sound easy enough right? Here's the catch the other team has one chance or one throw and they must throw the beer pong ball under hand behind their back. So I'm thinking, "There's no way he's going to make this shot because this is our third game." and we were a bit hammered. As fate would have it, he makes the under hand shot behind his back and the ball goes in. My little brother takes me out just like that. I have ten years of playing beer pong under my belt and one little house rule changes the whole game in seconds.
I think everybody should have their own set of house rules for beer pong. The house rules are what keep the game of beer pong worth playing. Just like beer pong, nationally played sports amend rules all the time (hopefully it's for the better). That's what makes beer pong what it is.
Besides the basic rules, you will always find that somebody has different set of house rules and this is what sets beer pong apart from the rest of the drinking games that are out there today. This keeps the game constantly reinventing itself and the best part of it all is because of you and your house rules. That's what makes beer pong fun, challenging, what the game is today, and will be tomorrow.

How To Buy a Portable Beer Pong Table
Finding a portable beer pong table is easy. Finding a portable beer pong table with the right construction is a little more involved. Sturdiness, folding and storage methods, and the right accessories should have the right combination to take your ponging to the next level.
When making a decision on what portable beer pong table is of quality, the material used should be light weight high grade aluminum (This includes the frame and legs). This is because aluminum does not rust but at the same time is strong enough to support the table and its contents. A portable beer pong table that is eight feet or larger needs to have at least six legs making sure the center of the table has enough support.
The nice thing about a portable beer pong table is the versatility in being able to fold it up into a nice storable size. The table and legs fold into a suitcase size rectangle with a built in handle for carrying; thus making it easier to take it where ever you want to go. A portable beer pong table should always lock into position whether it is broken down or in the open position.
The playing surface, which is the top of the table, needs to be smooth as well as water resistant. This makes it easy to clean and provides for a nice bounce shot. Most of the portable beer pong tables come with an array of designs and colors to choose from. Having a nice heavy gauge vinyl covering with non-slip triangles for your six or ten cup placement is nice feature to look for in a portable beer pong table. Also a ball holder and a bottle opener are very good accessories to have. These features do not come standard on all tables; So, make sure to read up on all the information provideded for the table that you are interested in so you get what you want.
The official length of a beer pong table is eight feet long. This does not mean that’s your only option. Portable beer pong tables range from six to eight feet. Why own a beer pong table?
"Why not own a beer pong table?" is probably a better question. Imagine that you go to a party and nobody is having fun and ready to leave. Then you say “Want to get a beer pong game going?” Their eyes light up and they say, “but we don’t have a beer pong table.”, “Hang on a minute.” you say as you go to your trunk and there it is a beer pong table folded up nicely. Now every person at the party is surrounding you waiting to get next game.
Now everyone knows that the cleanup is the worst part. But you don’t have to worry about that. The beer pong table is the easiest part of the cleaning process. Just wipe the table down. Then fold it up into a briefcase size and carry back to your trunk with the convenient handles built right into the beer pong table. Being only around 21 pounds this shouldn’t be a problem at all. So whether your hung over or simply just ready to leave, it takes you no time at all and you don’t even break a sweat doing it.
So you decide to build your own beer pong table. yourself, “Will I save some money doing it this way?” Let’s break it down, so, you spend time to drive to the hardware store and spend money for gas. Now you buy all the supplies needed and again you spend more money and waste more time. Ok then make sure you have all the tools necessary to build and if not there’s more money spent. Take the time to build it right and paint the table with some cool designs and suddenly its full days project and you won’t be able to play until the following day. If that sounds like your money and time well spent then go for it. Unfortunately, your table could end up looking like a five year old built it. If space is an issue now you have a beer pong table that is probably heavy, bulky, and too big to store anywhere convenient.
The playing surface alone is worth the money. On a professional made beer pong table you have a nice vinyl top. Some even come with a non-slip area were you rack the cups. This is so the cup doesn’t slide when the ball bounces off the rim. The rack area is marked off for a perfect rack every time, whether playing six or ten cup. Also, the table comes with a warranty; so, if it breaks you’re covered.
Now for some extras, some of the tables have a ball holder so you don’t have to worry about losing any balls. A lot of tables also come with a bottle opener as well. The designs and graphics you get on the tables are pretty wild with a boat load to choose from. So you should be able to find a beer pong table to your liking with no problem. For example you have the Nightmare table with flying tribal skulls and the Greens table that glows under a black light and even the Pink Hawaiian table for you ladies. There’s just too many list. But I think you get the point.
The eight foot beer pong table comes with six legs so you will have plenty of support. This way the table surface won’t sag or warp on you over time. The tables are defiantly well built for sturdiness because the last thing you want is for someone to bump into the table and have all the cups spill over. As long as the table is set up on a level area you are good to go.
When you work for your money and your time is valuable. The last thing want to doing is more work and instead of getting paid for the work, you’re paying to do the work. If that sounds like a good time to you then defiantly build a beer pong table. A professional made beer pong table will cost you a lot less in the long run. Have fun and play responsibly.
